CIOS 258 Final

Alright, here the final pictures I took for my Digital Photography course.

This was the first time I had actually walked around the downtown area on 1st street.
The orignal was pretty dull looking and the sky was too bright. I used auto color and auto contrast, and it made the statue turn out well, but I had to select the sky with the magic wand and manually adjust the brightness and contrast.

This is another first time. Shooting in the dark. I have done it before, but away from other light sources and while pointing at the aurora. It was originally very dark, but I brought out the brightness by changing the contrast and brightness settings, and used auto color. It still didnt look quite right, so I had to change the blues manually with color balance. I also used sharpen on the vehicle. It was more of a spur of the moment shot rather than something I had planned.

I picture of my two dogs, they were sleeping next to each other which is somewhat rare, I quietly walked to get my camera, and just my luck, they didnt move. I took about 5 pictures before they woke up and started play fighting. I used auto contrast, auto color, and changed the brightness setting manually by bringing down the brightness and increasing the contrast to better bring out the shadows and play with the light.

I took this picture of my Weber grill because I thought it looked like a bird. And not a pretty one at that! Changing the color wasnt really necesarry, but I turned up the brightness just a bit.

Another night shot, I used flash in this photo to help with the color of the tree. I thought it would be nice to get some spring photos of some buds. I used auto color and used the magic wand to select everything but the tree and the visible branches and turned up the brightness by about 5 and the contrast by 11, I was a bit shocked to see that there were actually branches visible in the background.

And another photo from downtown, the old green building on 5th Street where people used to go pay their water bills. Brings back memories. I still remember walking in to hand the tellers an envelope at boths that were about a foot higher than myself when I was 7. Now it is closed, and the phones have been removed. Maybe the clocks still work?
This is actually a compilation of four photos put together in sphotoshop and a wee bit of cropping. I had some troubles with auto color and levels, so I had to use the clone stamp to remove some funny colors.

My last downtown photo, it a side view and it shows the people who were sandblasting the statue clean. You can see the large red helmet in the middle of the photo. It shows the behind the scenes of what it takes to keep to statues looking good. I used auto contrast, levels and colors.

Dreamweaver

The only thing I dislike about Dreamweaver is that when I click on say the body after I have been editing h2, and choose edit, it will still edit h2 instead of the body.

The thing I like about it is that once you start using the controls, it begins to become easier.

First Post!

Wow, first post here, aren't I special now. Got my very own blogspace. . . yup.
I am 20, I have lived in Alaska all my life. I enjoy games and I work at Fred Meyer.

Uh... I guess I'll sign off now or whatever people do when they leave their blog for a bit.

Bye.
